Parish Leadership
Leadership development is a major work of the church. At Holy Trinity, opportunities abound to develop leadership skills. Especially important is the formation of servant leadership. To lead is to affirm, support and empower others in the life of grace that our tradition calls the baptismal life.
One powerful way of leading is to lead by example. That is, to love God with all our heart, soul and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. The scriptures refer to this as being a light in the darkness. It is a way of bearing witness to the realm of God proclaimed in the Gospel and revealed in Christ.
Servant leaders are desperately needed in our time. These are people of vision and commitment who are willing to learn, who have courage enough to embrace the wonder and mystery of life, and who care about justice and peace for all people. That is the kind of leadership we are seeking to encourage in this faith community. In an age of anxiety and fear, such a leader is, indeed, a light in the darkness.
